Top25Sabaton.jpg

I was introduced to Sabaton many years ago, but it was really during the pandemic that I listened to them the most. Today, they are one of my absolute favorite bands of all time. They are part of "The Big Four" of Power Metal and I consider them the best of the bunch. Their unique, often war-themed songs, are some of the coolest that Power Metal has to offer. I've been lucky to see Sabaton live once and that was one of the best days of my life and the most epic concert I've been to. With so many awesome songs in their arsenal, picking only twenty-five songs was not easy!

If you want to listen to more than these twenty five songs, check out my MV Playlists, you find all my Sabaton songs on Playlist 23. For this Top List, I have a short description of why I like each song, but I primarily figure the songs will speak for themselves!

I hope you enjoy my top 25 favorite Sabaton songs!

#25 The lost battalion

There are so many songs competing for top 25. The first entry on this list is about the adventures of a battalion during the battle of Argonne in World War 1, and the way the song moves forward is very well made and makes the song into a journey.

#24 Steel Commanders

I have heard people say that they don't fully consider Sabaton a Power Metal band. I always tell them to listen to this song, as it has very traditional "Power Metal guitars". On top of being a good example of Power Metal, it's a great song as well.

#23 The last battle

Many of Sabaton's songs are about the biggest moments of any battle, in the "heat of the moment" climax events. However, this is about specifically the end of World War 2, and I like that they have some songs that are about more niche events.

#22 The Attack of the Dead Men

This is a really cool song, the refrain is absolutely top notch, among some of the best of Sabaton's many awesome refrains. But what makes me really like this song is the tempo changes throughout the song, the slower parts work very well.

#21 race to the sea

A pretty standard great song by Sabaton, with good lyrics, instruments and vocals. But what makes me like this song a little extra is the music video. I don't really know why, but something about them playing instruments in the water is so cool!

#20 Christmas Truce

This is one of Sabaton's most popular songs and worthy of this list. I am not saying it's overrated, it is a great song, spot 20 makes sense to me. It might not appear on many Christmas playlists, but it's one of my favorite Christmas songs.

#19 screaming Eagles

This song is another perfect example on how to make Power Metal, cause power is the best word to describe this song. I like most aspects but particularly love the drums in this one, as it might be the best drum performance in any Sabaton song!

#18 fields of Verdun

One of their best songs from one of their best albums. This song tells the story about The Battle of Verdun, the longest battle during World War 1, lasting over 300 days and they do an amazing job summarizing 300 days in four minutes!

#17 40:1

This is arguably the most popular Sabaton song in Poland, as it tells the story of the brave polish soldiers who fought in The Battle of Wizna in 1939. And it's not only a good tribute to war heroes, but also an absolutely amazing song!

#16 bismarck

This is a fan-favorite and the Sabaton song with the most views on YouTube. I agree it's fantastic and deserves the hype even though it's "only" on spot 16. It has amazing instruments, lyrics and vocals and is simply an amazing Sabaton song!

#15 Sarajevo

I think this is one of Sabaton's most underrated songs. It's featured on my favorite Sabaton album, The War to End All Wars and tells the story about one of the biggest events in war history, the shot in Sarajevo, in an amazing way.

#14 Carolus Rex

The first of a few Sabaton songs on this list that is in Swedish (although English versions exist). It's about the Swedish "Karoliner", which were soldiers for the great kings of old. Since it's about the history of my country, I really like it!

#13 Primo victoria

Another song about a huge World War 2 event, D Day, and it's absolutely incredible. And like many other Sabaton songs, this one has an absolutely amazing music video that makes the song even better, check it out below!

#12 to hell and back

This is one of a few Sabaton songs about a person, in this case Audie Murphy, a highly decorated American soldier during WW2. I don't know much about Audie, but if he gets a tribute song as good as this, he must have done something right.

#11 GHOST DIVISION

Who doesn't like tanks?! Well, at least I do, in every war-based video game I play, they are a favorite, so it's no wonder I just love a song about tanks! With amazing instruments, it's absolutely one of Sabaton's greatest and coolest songs.

#10 1916

This cover song is one of their most recent songs and it's absolutely amazing. 1916 is my second favorite Motörhead song and this version is equally good, if not even better. And I love that Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee are in the music video.

#9 Karolinens bön

Another one of my favorite Swedish Sabaton songs and this one is also about the soldiers known as "Karoliner". What I absolutely love about this one is that it features part from a Swedish prayer, "Fader Vår", in an absolutely awesome way.

#8 EN LIVSTID I KRIG

The third song in Swedish on this list and one of the best of the bunch. En Livstid I Krig was the very first Sabaton song I heard, and I was instantly hooked. It's a huge favorite by Swedes and is a given song to be played at any Swedish party!

#7 SHIROYAMA

Japanese culture and history have become a huge hit in the west, and Samurai and Ninjas are very popular. Normally, I have been fairly neutral to the phenomenon, however, this song is crazy good and makes the Samurai cooler than ever!

#6 The Last Stand

My top six on this list are extremely even, this one, like the rest, could all have been number one even. The Last Stand has everything that makes Sabaton amazing. The ending (starting with "Dying for Salvation") is by far the best part!

#5 Devil Dogs

Devil Dogs has skyrocketed towards the top of this list and even reached my top five, and it could climb further in the future. The middle part, that starts at around the 1:37 mark into the song, is some of the best work of Sabaton ever!

#4 Soldier Of Heaven

This is also one of my absolute favorites! This is my second favorite song on my favorite album, The War To End All Wars. It's a fantastic song that is made even better by one of their absolutely best music videos, if not their very best.

#3 Stormtroopers

The last entry was my second favorite song on the album The War To End All Wars, and this one, Stormtroopers, is my favorite song from that album. This was my favorite Sabaton when it came out and is still appearing in the top three!

#2 The Red baron

I struggle to find the words for how much I love this song. It has amazing power, speed, guitar, drums, vocals, you name it, it's all top notch! And the Red Baron is a very fascinating person, this song is very interesting in a historical way.

#1 Livgardet

The last and best Sabaton song in Swedish. Livgardet's melody is based on the psalm "Härlig Är Jorden" (although I think the original psalm is Danish). It's a song I listen to basically every day and is definitely one of my favorite songs of all time!
