Top25CCR.jpg

Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), is one of the first bands I ever listened to as a kid, as they are one of my father's absolute favorite bands. Countless car rides he blasted them, and it rubbed off on me, big time! They have such a unique sound that fits any occasion, whether you are in a party mood or just chilling out on the couch. Even though CCR disbanded fairly early, John Fogerty has kept their songs alive for decades and even when he quit, these songs will be played for decades to come. Picking the songs was not easy, but I have tried my best to present my favorites!

If you want to listen to more than these twenty five songs, check out my MV Playlists, you find all my CCR songs on Playlist 9. For this Top List, I have a short description of why I like each song, but I primarily figure the songs will speak for themselves!

I hope you enjoy my top 25 favorite Creedence Clearwater Revival songs!

#25 I Put A Spell On You

I can't fully describe what I mean, but this song has such a mysterious vibe to it, that it becomes very interesting even though it's only on spot 25. I also really like the guitar in this one, I think it's one of CCR's better guitar work.

#24 Good Golly Miss Molly

I really like late 50's Rock 'N' Roll and I think Little Richards version of this song is great, but I still have to say that Creedence Clearwater Revival's version is my favorite, it has the original song with their special flavor that I just love.

#23 Suzie Q.

A very solid CCR song that was fairly hard to place. Melody wise it's fairly simple but I really like how they play around with the stereo sound in a very cool way. I don't know who Suzie Q is, but if she gets a song like this she must be pretty cool.

#22 The Midnight Special

The Midnight Special is a song that lives up to its name, it's quite special, at least to me. It's a song I heard at a young age and that I still like a lot. It has a very happy vibe to it and could very likely climb this list in the future.

#21 Green River

Green River is very hard to rate. It's surely one of the band's biggest hits but not one of my absolute favorites. I mean any song that makes this list is a song I love, but I have to say this is good but slightly overrated to be put higher up.

#20 Run Through The Jungle

Just like the previous entry, I think this one, Run Through The Jungle, is slightly overrated, mostly because it's been overplayed in movies. Don't get me wrong, I like it a lot, I really do, but it's just not a top ten level of song for me.

#19 Fortunate Son

Fortunate Son completes the trilogy of overused songs in movies by CCR. However, this one I still often come back to, it has too much quality. Likely one day this (and the last two entries) can very likely climb back to the top of the list.

#18 Night Time is the Right Time

I am definitely a night person. Early mornings are not for me and I often spend too many nights awake blasting Rock. This title (even though the song is about love and not Rock music) describes my days so well and I love it for it!

#17 I Heard It Through The Grapevine

Another song that is very hard to place and it could easily be higher up on this tight list. I especially absolutely love the intro. I heard through the grapevine that this song is really great, and the grapevine was definitely right!

#16 Long As I Can See The Light

It's not often I forget or miss songs, but for some reason I had "lost" this one and didn't listen to it for probably twenty years. However, when I recently "found" it again, it instantly jumped to the middle of this list. May I never lose it again!

#15 Born On The Bayou

This song has one of CCR's most iconic and recognizable intros and it has also been featured in many movies. I think everyone knows and loves this song and so do I of course. The list is simply too tight to place it higher for now.

#14 Cotton Fields

Although both versions are covers, I find it extremely hard to pick between CCR's version and The Beach Boys version, both are great. If I had to pick, this is probably my favorite, CCR's "Southern USA sound" fits it even better.

#13 Proud Mary

Just like the previous entry, this is a song where I love two versions, CCR's and Tina Turner's. While I think Tina does it slightly better, this, which is the original, is still phenomenal and it's no wonder it has become so big and popular!

#12 Down On The Corner

A well-recognized CCR song with a nice melody and lyrics. However, it's very hard to rate this one. It's really good, but at the same time, nothing stands out exceptionally much either. In other words, a solid, middle of the list song.

#11 Up Around The Bend

Up Around The Bend is my father's favorite CCR song, and since I got to know CCR via him, you can imagine I heard this one a lot. And maybe that is why it's short of my top ten, I think it's been slightly overplayed during my childhood.

#10 Hello Mary Lou

This has recently climbed into my top ten and can likely climb even higher. There is just something I love about this song, and if I have to put my finger on it, it's probably the upbeat melody that I like the most, it puts me in such a good mood!

#9 Who'll Stop The Rain

Not many bands can make good songs about something as disliked as rain, but CCR sure knows how to turn rain into something great. And believe it or not, this is only my second favorite song from CCR about the topic rain.

#8 Travellin' Band

What I love about this song, Travellin' Band, other than the melody is the lyrics. Not only is it a good depiction of how life can be for a band that travels a lot, but I think it's also an insight into the life of Creedence Clearwater Revival themselves.

#7 Lodi

Another song where I absolutely love the lyrics. This also has a very nice vibe to it, it feels so relaxed and is a perfect song to loosen up to when you need to. It will likely climb the list in the future, even though the competition is fierce.

#6 Hey Tonight

This was a song that I didn't rate this high in the past, it was somewhere in the middle of my CCR song rankings. But recently a good friend re-introduced it, as it is his favorite CCR song, and now it's becoming a favorite of mine too.

#5 Molina

Creedence Clearwater Revival has multiple songs named after women and they are all great, but this is my absolute favorite of them. Whoever Molina is based on, she's a lucky gal, getting such an awesome song named after her!

#4 Bootleg

One of my absolute favorite CCR songs that I often come back to. However, I think the best version is made by John Fogerty as a solo artist, during his The Long Road Home concert in 2005, even though CCR's version is also top notch.

#3 Lookin' Out My Back Door

This is absolutely a candidate for my number one CCR song but falls just short of the number one or two spots. It's one of only three CCR songs with over 100 million views (in a single video) and that makes sense, it's just phenomenal!

#2 Have You Ever Seen The Rain

I mentioned rain earlier on this list, and here is the best "rain-song" that CCR has made in my opinion. Have You Ever Seen The Rain has one of the best intros of any song ever made by any band and is a solid song through and through.

#1 Bad Moon Rising

Bad Moon Rising is my absolute favorite CCR song and has been for many years. It sits solidly on the throne because it just has everything I love in a song, great melody and lyrics and the perfect vibe that I can't get enough of!
